PL: Cena wejścia (entry price) | DE: Eingangspreis
Definition
The entry price is an EU agricultural market protection mechanism applied to imports of selected fruit and vegetables (including tomatoes, cucumbers, oranges, lemons, grapes, apples, pears). If the import price falls below the set entry price, the importer must pay a specific additional duty compensating the difference.
The entry price system was introduced following the GATT Uruguay Round. Entry prices vary by season (higher during EU harvest periods). The import price is verified by customs based on the transaction value (FOB method) or standard import value (SIV) published daily by the European Commission.
