Definition
A phytosanitary certificate is an official document issued by the plant protection organisation of the exporting country, confirming that a consignment of plants or plant products meets the phytosanitary requirements of the importing country. In the EU, plant imports are governed by Regulation 2016/2031. The certificate must accompany each consignment and is checked at Border Control Posts (BCP).
