SAD (Single Administrative Document)

DocumentsCommission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/2446

PL: SAD (Jednolity Dokument Administracyjny) | DE: Einheitspapier

Definition

SAD (Single Administrative Document) is the standard customs declaration form used in the EU since 1988. It consists of 8 copies, of which specific ones serve for: import clearance (copies 6, 7, 8), export (copies 1, 2, 3), and transit (copies 4, 5). The SAD form contains 54 boxes with data on goods, transaction parties, customs procedure, and duties.

In Poland, the SAD form has been largely replaced by the electronic AIS (Automatic Import System) and AES (Automatic Export System). However, the SAD data structure still forms the basis of electronic customs declarations — electronic declaration fields correspond to SAD form boxes. The term 'SAD' is still commonly used in customs practice as a synonym for customs declaration.

Key SAD boxes: box 1 (declaration type), box 33 (commodity code CN/TARIC), box 37 (procedure code), box 46 (statistical value), box 47 (calculation of duties).
