PL: TARIC | DE: TARIC
Definition
TARIC (Tarif Integre Communautaire) is the Integrated Tariff of the European Union, comprising a ten-digit tariff code. The first 8 digits are the CN code, and the additional digits 9-10 identify specific trade measures applied by the EU to imports from particular countries or groups of countries.
TARIC is centrally managed by the European Commission (Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union — DG TAXUD) and is uniform across all Member States. The TARIC database integrates over 35,000 trade measures, including: MFN and preferential duty rates, anti-dumping and countervailing duties, tariff quotas, duty suspensions, import/export prohibitions and restrictions, licensing requirements, and surveillance measures.
In Poland, an 11-digit tariff number is required for customs clearance, extending TARIC by one additional digit for national measures (e.g., VAT rate, excise). The TARIC database is publicly accessible on the European Commission website and serves as the primary tool for customs agents, importers, and exporters throughout the EU.
