PL: AEO (Upoważniony Przedsiębiorca) | DE: AEO (Zugelassener Wirtschaftsbeteiligter)
Definition
AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) is a status granted by customs authorities to economic operators meeting rigorous criteria regarding customs compliance, record-keeping, financial solvency, and supply chain security. AEO status is regulated in Art. 38-41 UCC.
There are three types of AEO authorisations: AEO-C (Customs Simplifications), AEO-S (Security and Safety), and AEO-F (Full — combining C and S). AEO status is recognised throughout the EU and, through Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA), in third countries (USA, Japan, China, Switzerland, among others).
Obtaining AEO status requires a customs audit and meeting numerous conditions. AEO holders benefit from fewer customs inspections, faster clearance, reduced guarantees, and priority treatment.
