EORI

DocumentsArt. 9 – Regulation (EU) No 952/2013 (UCC)

PL: EORI | DE: EORI

Definition

EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) is a unique identification number assigned to economic operators for customs operations in the European Union. The EORI number is required of every entity (natural or legal person) that imports, exports, or transits goods across the EU customs border (Art. 9 UCC).

The EORI number is assigned once and is valid throughout the EU — the entity registers in one Member State and uses the same number in all states. In Poland, the EORI number is assigned by the Director of the Tax Administration Chamber in Poznan.

The EORI number is required for: filing customs declarations (import, export, transit), communicating with customs authorities, obtaining AEO status, and applying for customs authorisations. An entity without an EORI number cannot carry out customs clearance in any EU Member State. Registration is free and usually takes a few business days.
