Customs Deposit

Customs procedures

PL: Depozyt celny | DE: Zollhinterlegung

Definition

A customs deposit is a monetary amount paid to the customs authority as security for a customs debt. It may be required for conditional release, when customs value is disputed, or when goods are under a special procedure. The deposit is refunded after duties are settled or the security basis ceases. It is the simplest but most capital-intensive form of customs security.
