PL: FCA (Free Carrier) | DE: FCA (Free Carrier)
Definition
FCA (Free Carrier) is one of the most commonly used Incoterms 2020 rules, available for any mode of transport. The seller delivers goods cleared for export to the carrier (or another person) nominated by the buyer at the agreed place. Risk passes to the buyer upon delivery to the carrier.
FCA is the equivalent of FOB for non-maritime transport. Incoterms 2020 introduced a new option in FCA — the possibility to instruct the carrier to issue an 'on board' bill of lading, important for documentary credits.
In the customs context, the FCA value does not include international freight or insurance costs — these must be added to determine customs value.
