Definition
A Free Trade Zone is a designated area within a country where foreign goods can be imported, stored, processed, and re-exported without standard customs procedures and duties. In the EU, the equivalent is free zones (Art. 243-249 UCC). These zones serve to attract investment and facilitate trade. Goods in the zone retain non-Union goods status until placed on the EU market.
