Definition
A summary declaration is a document filed electronically before the arrival (Entry Summary Declaration, ENS) or before the departure of goods (Exit Summary Declaration, EXS) from the EU customs territory. It serves for safety and security risk analysis. ENS is filed in the ICS2 system, with deadlines depending on the mode of transport (e.g. 24h before loading for maritime container transport).
