Definition
The EEA (European Economic Area) is an agreement between the EU and three EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) extending the four freedoms of the EU single market to those countries. EEA countries are not part of the EU customs union – they maintain their own tariffs towards third countries. Trade between the EU and EEA is duty-free for industrial goods.
